Composition / Application

Like countless other followers of computer and electronic music, I grew inspired by Edgar Varèseʼs Poème Èlectronique. I was lured by Varèseʼs handling of space within an installation. What I really wanted to achieve was to create an atmosphere as dynamic as the piece.  I wanted to focus on the music instead of the technical sophistication; I tried to avoid digital signal processing techniques as much as possible yet stick to the minimal technics used at the time the piece was created. For this reason, I used only ring modulation, reverberation effects, and audio editing, as well as pitch-shifting. My sound choices were limited and predetermined to challenge myself in the creation of the piece. Other focus was to immerse myself in the atmosphere in which it was created.
